I've been debating when to run this as Jonathan Quick keeps making a case to be higher and higher on it.
But the rain has made it a slow night, so here goes:
These are the top playing careers of UMass athletes after college. I only considered playing careers which leaves Rick Pitino off this list.
1. Julius Erving - One of the best NBA players ever. This was an easy choice
2. Brianna Scurry - A pioneer in women's soccer and maybe the best goalie the game has ever seen.
3. Jeff Reardon - At one point he was MLB's career save leader. Plus a member of the beard hall of fame.
4. Mark Millon - Any conversation of the best lacrosse players of alltime has to include him. He's been a standout in just about every pro league imaginable as well as on the national team.
5. Mike Flanagan - A Cy Young winner and reliable standout for some good Oriole teams.
6. Jonathan Quick - He's rising on this list. He could have a Vezina Trophy and a Stanley Cup before the summer is out.
8. Danielle Henderson - The Americans were struggling in the Sydney Olympics before a Henderson win got them on track en route to a gold medal.
9. Victor Cruz - He's climbing this list too. Already has the Giants' single season receiving record and a Super Bowl ring.
10. Milt Morin - Two time Pro Bowler - 1968 and 1971 might have been UMass' best NFLer. Cruz could pass him.
Also considered: Greg Landry, Gary DiSarcina, Marcus Camby, Marcel Shipp, Ron Villone
